{"id":91,"date":"2018-09-10T09:02:22","date_gmt":"2018-09-10T16:02:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/asandersgarcia.humspace.ucla.edu\/courses\/dh101f18\/?p=91"},"modified":"2018-11-14T14:00:38","modified_gmt":"2018-11-14T22:00:38","slug":"project-wireframes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/asandersgarcia.humspace.ucla.edu\/courses\/dh101f18\/project-wireframes\/","title":{"rendered":"Project Snapshot"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>DUE:<\/strong> 11:59pm Tuesday, November 27, 2018 on CCLE.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Purpose:\u00a0<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><\/strong>This snapshot provides an opportunity to share a progress report, wireframes (see below), how well your team is functioning, and any challenges you are facing. \u00a0Your brief report will help us work with you and your team to resolve challenges and meet any needs expressed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Requirements for this assignment<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Task:<\/strong>\u00a0Submit\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">1<\/span> project snapshot per team. Write a 2-4 page double-spaced reflection that describes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>What you have accomplished so far<\/li><li>How well the team is functioning<\/li><li>Any challenges you are facing or questions you have<\/li><li>Anything you need, such as additional training, space for group work,\u00a0 source materials, or anything else you would like to share.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>You should also submit a <strong>wireframe for each page<\/strong> you plan to include in your site, with headings for each data visualization, map, and section of text. You don\u2019t have to have working maps or visualizations at this point, but please indicate which visualization, mapping, and timeline tools you intend to use, along with the web-publishing technology you plan to use (e.g., WordPress, flat HTML, Jekyll, etc.).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can submit your wireframes via CCLE in any format you like, as long as we can open it (e.g., PDF, .docx, JPG, etc.).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Francesca Albrezzi, a previous TA for this course, has some\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/presentation\/d\/1QofxSv_b_DZ1m0GTJRdtIViU4OXgfZCXOmz_CU9D-GQ\/edit#slide=id.p\">very helpful slides<\/a>\u00a0with more information about wireframes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The exact tool you use to make your wireframes doesn\u2019t matter so much: there are dedicated wireframing tools, but a lot of people like to use PowerPoint, or just sketch by hand. Some fancier wireframing tools create clickable HTML prototypes, so people can interact with the site, but we won\u2019t be that elaborate in this class.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you\u2019d like to use a dedicated wireframing tool, we suggest\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/balsamiq.cloud\/\">Balsamiq<\/a>. Choose the free 30-day trial and export your designs as a PDF.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/miriamposner.com\/classes\/dh101f17\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2017\/11\/Group-4-Wireframes.pdf\">Here is an example<\/a>\u00a0of a very good set of wireframes. Think of them as your site\u2019s \u201cskeleton\u201d \u2014 boxes that indicate where site content will go, but without the exact text, images, or visualizations. In fact, many designers prefer to leave wireframes as \u201csketchy\u201d as possible, so that when the team is judging the quality of the information architecture, people aren\u2019t distracted by images or font choices.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>DUE: 11:59pm Tuesday, November 27, 2018 on CCLE.
