Team Assignment<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Due: <\/strong>March 14, 2019<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Purpose: <\/strong>The team presentation provides an opportunity to work on oral\npresentation skills for an academic, non-specialist audience. This assignment\nis also intended to give you a chance to prepare a presentation that you could\npropose for either a disciplinary or DH conference. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Task: <\/strong>Prepare a \u00ad\u00ad10-minute<\/strong>\noral presentation that<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Summarizes\n
    1. research\nquestions<\/li><\/ol>
      1. source\nmaterials<\/li><\/ol>
        1. analytical\nmethods<\/li><\/ol>
          1. findings<\/li><\/ol><\/li>
          2. Describes\nthe significance of this project. Where does it fit in the field and how does\nit engage with existing literature?<\/li>
          3. Feel\nfree to explain what worked well and what challenges you ran into as you\nconducted your research. <\/li>
          4. Include visuals<\/strong>, images of your source materials,\ndescriptions\/images of the data, and anything else that contributes to your\nexposition.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

            An exemplary\npresentation will meet the following expectations:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

            • The type of presentation is appropriate for the topic and academic\naudience. Information is presented in a logical sequence. All elements of the\nprompt are discussed (research\nquestions, source materials, analytical methods, and findings).<\/li>
            • Introduction captures attention, lays out the research questions,\n& establishes a framework for the rest of the presentation. Technical terms\nare well-defined. Presentation contains accurate information. Material included\nis relevant. The amount of material is appropriate and points made reflect well\ntheir relative importance. Obvious conclusion summarizes the presentation.<\/li>
            • Speaker maintains good eye contact; is appropriately animated; and\nuses a clear, audible voice. Delivery is poised, controlled, and smooth. Visual\naids are well prepared, informative, effective, and not distracting. Length of\npresentation is within the assigned time limit (10 min). Information is well\ncommunicated. All team members speak.<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\t\n\n\t\n\t\n\t
