Overall, I was extremely pleased with this course; it feels bittersweet that this is my last DH class before I graduate. I’m hoping I can use the skills I learned in this class for my next professional or educational endeavor.
Bittersweet
The first issue came with acquiring our primary source documents. By the time we found the 6 American State Paper volumes on Military Land Grants, we struggled to not only make them plain text, but to clean these 800+ page volumes to better analyze them.
Challenges
We were able to make up for skills that each other lacked, in effect learning from each other in the process. Throughout our project we met several times, over phone and in person; each meeting was productive and effective.
Effective Teamwork
I believe the work my teammate and I did transcends this project, as we have provided a way for these once hard-to-examine documents to be easily examined and scoured.
